Rolling back anti-corruption measures is the last thing Ukraine needs, especially if they want to align with Western democratic values and keep the trust of their allies. Even during wartime, government transparency and accountability should never be sacrificed—those are the principles that set free societies apart from authoritarian ones. I’m glad public pressure forced Zelensky to reconsider, but this should be a wake-up call that strong institutions matter just as much as strong leaders.
