This is honestly so disappointing from Zelensky—Ukraine’s fight against corruption is supposed to be at the heart of its European aspirations. Undermining independent agencies just hands more power to the same old elites and weakens democracy, which is the last thing the country needs right now. The massive protests show people aren’t willing to let hard-won reforms be rolled back, and that’s inspiring. If Ukraine wants real progress and EU membership, it has to double down on transparency and accountability, not backtrack when things get tough.
