If Ukraine wants to join the EU and attract foreign investment, rolling back anti-corruption reforms is a major step in the wrong direction—transparency and strong institutions are non-negotiable for a modern market economy.

Wow, this whole situation with Zelensky and the anti-corruption agencies is honestly pretty worrying. Fighting corruption should be at the heart of building a fair and just society, especially if Ukraine wants to join the EU and strengthen its democracy. It’s a huge red flag to see any backtracking on agency independence, even if it was reversed after protests—shows how much public pressure still matters! Social democracy is all about transparency, accountability, and empowering citizens, so weakening anti-corruption efforts goes directly against those values. Glad people spoke up and he listened, but this definitely shows why we can’t let our guard down when it comes to protecting democratic reforms.

This is honestly really disappointing from Zelensky, especially when Ukrainians have been fighting so hard for democracy and transparency. Weakening anti-corruption bodies just sends all the wrong signals, both to citizens and to the EU, when Ukraine's future depends on real reform. It's encouraging to see people take to the streets and demand better—public pressure clearly still matters, even during wartime. The quick reversal shows that leaders can't just ignore the will of the people, and that's a win for accountability. But it also proves how fragile progress can be, and why we can't take our eyes off those in power, no matter the circumstances.
