This just shows why strong checks and balances are so important—leaders will always try to grab more power if they think they can get away with it. If Ukraine wants real support from the West, they need to prove they’re serious about fighting corruption, not just paying it lip service.

Honestly, this whole situation is really disappointing. Independent anti-corruption agencies are crucial for any real democracy, and weakening them just undermines public trust and progress toward Europe. Social democrats like me want to see Ukraine build strong institutions that work for everyone, not just those in power. Even though Zelensky reversed the decision, it's a reminder that we have to keep pressure on leaders to put transparency and fairness first.

If Ukraine wants to join the EU and truly build a democracy, undermining anti-corruption efforts is the last thing Zelensky should be doing—glad public pressure forced a rethink, but this shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
