Honestly, this just shows why concentrating power in the hands of government, especially during a crisis, is always risky. Zelensky stripping anti-corruption agencies of their independence is exactly the kind of overreach libertarians warn about. Real reforms come from limiting government power, not creating more bureaucracies that end up getting politicized anyway. Ukraine needs less central authority and more checks on those in charge, not the other way around.

Undermining independent anti-corruption agencies is a huge red flag for anyone who values limited government and the rule of law. If Ukraine wants to be taken seriously as a liberal democracy and maintain Western support, protecting institutional checks and balances should be non-negotiable.

It’s really disappointing to see Zelensky jeopardize anti-corruption efforts just when Ukraine needs strong democratic institutions the most. Protecting independent oversight isn’t just about EU membership—it’s about building a fair, accountable society that truly serves its people.

This just proves how essential independent anti-corruption agencies are for real democracy—Zelensky needs to listen to the people and EU partners if he wants Ukraine to stay on the path to real reforms and EU integration.
