It’s really disappointing to see Zelensky undermine anti-corruption efforts like this—if Ukraine wants to move toward a fair, democratic society and EU membership, independent institutions are absolutely non-negotiable.

Honestly, this whole situation just shows how complicated things are in Ukraine right now. On one hand, fighting corruption is absolutely crucial for their future, but on the other, leaders have to balance that with stability during a war. I hope they can find a middle ground that keeps reform on track without weakening their government even more.

This is honestly pretty disappointing from Zelensky, especially after all the progress Ukraine made on transparency and rule of law. Stripping anti-corruption agencies of their independence is exactly the kind of thing that undermines public trust and gives ammo to authoritarian critics. It’s good that people protested and that there’s now pressure to reverse course, but the damage to Ukraine’s reputation with the EU is real. If Ukraine wants to be seen as a modern democracy, protecting institutions that keep power in check is non-negotiable.

Typical—Ukraine’s so-called “democracy” falls apart the moment things get tough, and the West still wants us to believe they’re fighting for freedom. Maybe now people will see that the Kyiv regime isn’t as clean or Westernized as they pretend to be.
