Ukraine can't afford to backslide on anti-corruption reforms, especially if they want continued Western support and eventual EU membership—Zelensky needs to remember that transparency and strong institutions are essential, even during war.

Honestly, it’s disappointing to see Zelensky undermine anti-corruption efforts, especially when Ukraine’s democracy is already under so much threat. Fighting corruption and upholding transparency aren’t luxuries—they’re essentials, even in wartime. If Ukraine wants a future in the EU, sticking to progressive reforms and letting independent agencies do their job is non-negotiable.

Zelensky’s got enough on his plate with a war going on—he shouldn’t have to answer to a bunch of outside “watchdogs” and protestors when national security is at stake. Sometimes strong, centralized control is what’s needed to keep a country together in a crisis, not endless second-guessing from so-called “civil society.”

Looks like Zelensky’s “pro-democracy” image is finally cracking—he’s all talk about Western values until it threatens his grip on power. Maybe it’s time for the West to stop blindly funneling money into Ukraine if they can’t even keep corruption in check.
