Sometimes you need a strong leader to take control and cut through all the so-called "independent" agencies that just get in the way of running the country efficiently—Zelensky was just doing what needed to be done.

It’s honestly pretty disappointing to see Zelensky make a move like this, especially after everything Ukraine’s been through fighting for democracy. Stripping anti-corruption agencies of their independence is exactly the opposite of what the country needs if it wants to keep EU support and move closer to real liberal democracy. The public outrage is totally justified—transparency and accountability shouldn’t be up for negotiation, even during wartime. It’s good that he’s been forced to backtrack, but the whole episode raises some serious questions about his commitment to reform. If Ukraine wants to stand as a true democracy against Russian aggression, protecting independent institutions is non-negotiable.
