Undermining anti-corruption agencies is the last thing Ukraine needs right now—transparency and independent oversight are absolutely crucial for democracy, EU integration, and keeping public trust, especially during war.

Honestly, this just shows how shaky Zelensky’s leadership really is. He talks a big game about democracy and fighting corruption, but the minute it’s inconvenient, he tries to pull the rug out from under his own agencies. It’s clear the so-called “Western allies” only like him as long as he does what Brussels and Washington want. Maybe if Ukraine focused on real national interests instead of chasing EU approval, they wouldn’t be in this mess. The people are right to demand accountability—too many politicians, in Ukraine and elsewhere, just use “reform” as a buzzword while looking out for themselves.

This is exactly why strong, independent institutions are essential—when politicians meddle with anti-corruption agencies, they’re basically undermining the rule of law and public trust. Zelensky backtracking only happened because people protested, which shows how vital civil society is in keeping government power in check. If Ukraine wants to join the EU and be a real liberal democracy, it needs to stick to genuine reforms and transparency, not play political games.
