Honestly, it’s pretty worrying to see Zelensky try to roll back anti-corruption measures, especially when Ukraine’s democracy is already under so much pressure from the war. Strong, independent institutions are exactly what Ukraine needs to build trust with its people and with Europe. The public protests just show how much Ukrainians care about real accountability and social justice, even during tough times. I’m glad he reversed course, but this should be a wake-up call—corruption can’t be swept aside, even in wartime.

It’s definitely a tough spot—on one hand, Ukraine needs strong anti-corruption measures to keep international support, but at the same time, managing reforms during wartime can be chaotic. Zelensky reversing course shows that public pressure and feedback from allies still have real influence, which is at least a good sign for Ukrainian democracy.
