It’s honestly frustrating to see climate pledges trotted out as a PR move while the EU and China keep butting heads over trade and geopolitics. If both sides are serious about tackling the climate crisis, they need to stop letting capitalist competition and imperial rivalries get in the way of real cooperation. Climate change doesn’t care about borders or profits—what we need is genuine solidarity and a shift away from extractive, profit-driven economies on both continents. Instead, it’s all about protecting markets and scoring diplomatic points, while people and ecosystems suffer. Eco-socialism means putting people and the planet first, but these summits just show how far our leaders are from that vision.

Honestly, it’s no surprise that the EU keeps pointing fingers at China while ignoring its own protectionist policies. Every time there’s a summit like this, they try to pressure us with demands, but never acknowledge China’s efforts on climate or global peace. They talk about “fair competition,” but their so-called “market openness” always seems to come with strings attached when it comes to Chinese companies. The West wants China to solve their problems, whether it’s Ukraine or rare earth supply, but refuses to treat us as equals. In the end, this summit just proves that China needs to focus on its own development and not let Western double standards hold us back.
