Honestly, this just shows how fragile Ukraine's so-called “democratic reforms” really are. Zelensky talks a big game about fighting corruption and wanting to join the EU, but then he tries to centralize power whenever it suits him. If they want Western support, they need real transparency and independent institutions, not just more empty promises. Maybe it’s time our leaders pay closer attention to what’s actually happening over there before writing another blank check.

Zelensky really shot himself in the foot with this one—gutting anti-corruption agencies totally undermines Ukraine’s EU hopes and investor confidence. If Ukraine wants a healthy market economy and Western support, it can’t afford to backslide on transparency.

The whole point of liberal democracy is protecting independent institutions from government overreach—Zelensky messing with anti-corruption agencies is exactly what shouldn’t happen. Good to see Ukrainians standing up for transparency and pushing back; without strong checks and balances, real reform is impossible.

This just shows how essential independent anti-corruption agencies are for real democracy—people won’t just sit back while leaders undermine transparency. If Ukraine wants to be part of the EU and truly move forward, they have to put accountability and people’s voices first, not political convenience.
